Hope you had a wonderful Halloween!
Happy Halloween!
November 3, 2009 - 8:48 pm - 1. averhy's hat rocks. 2. it looks like she's casting a spell on eden.
November 2, 2009 - 4:36 pm - These are going to be a great Halloween tradition.
November 2, 2009 - 8:34 am - Hugs to you and your girls!
homemade play-do
We’ve been battling a cough around here (no flu thankfully… just an ugly-sounding cough). So a few weeks ago, Averhy missed several days of school even though she wasn’t sick enough to stay in bed all day – which means we had to get creative in keeping busy inside the house. One day we made some homemade play-so and the girls had a good time mixing it up and making a big mess all over the kitchen table. I was especially impressed with the pink princess that Eden made all by herself! Complete with hair, eyes, mouth, knees… Great stuff! Oh, and I was also impressed when Averhy did her hair all by herself… Stylish.
October 19, 2009 - 8:37 pm - Allyson, I found your web link through Jennifer's Bella Bambini website. My husband, Eric and I used to go to FCC during college. Eric played guitar and sang sometimes, so he knew Sky. And I had you as a TA in an HDFS class one semester. Anyway, I was looking at your blog and website and you are a great photographer! And our daughter Jillian has the same beatiful color of hair as Averhy! Gotta love those little red heads:). Hope you're all doing well. Jen
October 19, 2009 - 2:19 pm - that is a very beautiful princess. i love the knees, very attentive to detail :-)
rainy day writing
One rainy day in September, Averhy sat down at the living room table and just began writing and drawing this… The translation:
3 Ducks
4 Chickens. I want to see a duck.
There I seen a roosters.
5 Roosters. I see goats.
6 Goats.
Pretty impressive for the first month of kindergarten, I think…
October 13, 2009 - 6:48 pm - Way to go, Averhy! Grandpa hasn't stopped talking about how you counted to 100 for him on Saturday! And look at those numbers and pictures you drew! A mathematician, an artist, a writer!!!! WOW!
October 13, 2009 - 3:43 pm - Good job, Averhy!
October 13, 2009 - 1:02 pm - I think my kids will pass up mine and Karen's knowledge by probably 5th grade. Maddy could count to 18 or so and has been in preschool for 3 weeks and can all of the sudden count right up to 100. I am not sure if they are even teaching that in preschool yet. Bring on 3rd grade calculus!
applesauce
A few weeks ago we visited Aunt Linda on a beautiful Sunday afternoon to make applesauce. The girls had a great time picking apples (and LOTS of red raspberries), helping peel and slice them with the apple-peeler-corer-slicer machine, and sampling the finished product. I think we’ll have to make this a fall tradition. Afterward, we stopped by our friends’ house to play and have a tasty supper. A great fall day!
October 12, 2009 - 12:50 pm - yeah, that top one is totally gorgeous. she looks like such a country kid with the barefeet and the sunkissed hair.
October 11, 2009 - 8:52 am - The top one is pretty much summer defined... can almost feel the sunshine, or the hot breeze while sitting in the shade of the trees.
October 11, 2009 - 12:04 am - i LOVE the legs. love love love
October 10, 2009 - 10:36 pm - These are great pictures, Allyson! I especially love the top one of Eden by herself, and the legs shot! A friend and I make applesauce in the summer (with an early apple), and we make enough to last most of the year. Tons of work but totally worth it!
Averhy’s first day of kindergarten!
Of course, Averhy was up early and dressed before I even rolled out of bed… so she had plenty of time to watch a little PBS kids before we left for school!
…and the girls dutifully cheesed it up for the camera, after which Eden decided to do a little running-dance-thing around Averhy to show how excited she was! Unfortunately, after we dropped Averhy off at school and Eden realized that she didn’t get to go to school WITH Averhy, she was more sad than excited….
…lucky for her (and me) we did have our first-and-last-day-of-school tradition to look forward to – ice cream at Jarling’s Custard Cup! Averhy is such a friendly person… we got our ice cream and walked outside to find a picnic table, and Averhy chose the only picnic table with another person sitting there! She plopped right down, and I said to the college-aged-guy, “Well, I guess you get to hear how the first day of Kindergarten went!” We had a nice chat, and Averhy told us (stranger included) how much fun she had.
September 14, 2009 - 11:29 pm - These totally remind me of my little girl's first day of school. She was up early, dressed with backpack on and continued to ask for about three hours when she got to leave for school. And little sis was dancing around her all excited as well. I hope Averhy has a great year in school.
August 29, 2009 - 12:01 pm - I feel so much more connected to this now that I've met the girls in person! And it's so true about her being so friendly. When she complimented my "pretty long dress" and thanked God during meal prayer for letting me come to visit, my heart melted!
August 28, 2009 - 3:24 pm - come visit. (and bring some jarling's with you)
a fun visit to Grandi’s summer home in Canada… part 2
Next to Grandi’s house is a large hay field, and Eden liked picking flowers each time that we walked past it on our way to the beach. Toward the end of our week at Grandi’s house, we drove up to a quiet lake (through many giant potholes on the way) and also went to Bobo’s beach (most of Grandi’s siblings have summer homes in Jacquet River as well, so we were able to meet many of them during our visit!). Sky and I made little rock guys (couldn’t figure out what they’re really called…) and we continued to have fun skipping rocks and finding shells on the beach. Thanks for a wonderful week Grandi!!
September 1, 2009 - 9:15 am - Thanks for capturing the four generations. We don't have many of these.
August 5, 2009 - 9:14 am - Great pictures as always, Allyson! Eden sure looks like Sky in that picture!
