This morning, Eden decided to get up really early. I was already restless because Sky left this morning at 3:30am to drive to Indy and (barely) catch an 8am flight to Arizona for a work weekend. So, when Eden crawled into my bed around 5:30am, I never really got back to sleep. After snuggling (and tossing and turning) for a while, Eden decided to really wake up, so we headed downstairs for breakfast. Our first stop, however, was the front door windows – to gaze out at the early morning snow, glowing blue in the light of the moon…. Almost as beautiful as Eden herself.

February 8, 2010 - 10:40 pm - Absolutely angelic...
February 7, 2010 - 9:12 am - And as beautiful as you. Thanks for helping to raise such beautiful girls, inside and out.
January in review
I’ve been a blog-slacker lately, I admit it. (Thanks mom, for the reminder….) So here’s a quick review of what we did in January!
– Belated Christmas gathering with my family at my parents’ house — which actually turned into a weekend filled with fun activities (visiting friends in Chicago, watching Kevin in sketchfest, dinner with other friends in the city, and even going out to a movie! Wow!)
– Averhy has a (barely) loose tooth. She’s excited about it, and it’s making me feel old.
– Eden is getting better and better at talking. “Cinderella” is now a word that most people can understand when she says it… and I miss her old way of saying “Cin-da-la-le-la-leh”
– I went to Nashville for three days, for a photography convention. Julie came down to our house to stay with the girls, and they had a good time (of course!) — including a special trip to the movie theater to see “The Princess and The Frog”
– Averhy completed a roller-skating unit in P.E. at school, and had a great time — except when one of her classmates (“he’s the fastest skater”) would whiz by her, she would always fall down as a preventative measure to avoid getting knocked over.
– Eden still enjoys going to her “class” while I go to Body and Soul or Time Out 4 Moms – and now she prefers walking down the hall and into her classrooms all by herself. Such a big girl!
– I decided to set my pride (and low pain-tolerance) aside and finally join Sky’s gym – Momentum – and it’s actually going well! I think we’re both pleasantly surprised (and relieved!)
– I’ve also been a slacker at taking pictures since finishing my 365 project at the end of December. The year-long project for 2010 is to take a short video of our family (mainly the girls) every day, and we’re keeping up pretty well with it. The challenge now is to actually upload and post the videos, instead of just letting them sit on the camera! Maybe I do need to get a Flip, just to make it easier… 🙂
February 3, 2010 - 2:47 pm - I'm hoping for a Flip in anticipation of the baby... if no one gets it off my registry, I'm buying it myself! :)
our 2009 Christmas update — the e-version!
December 22, 2009 - 9:11 pm - LOVE your Christmas card/letter/pictures! Merry Christmas!
What I’m thankful for… part 2
This girl.
She looks nothing like me, and is even more beautiful than I ever imagined a “little girl version of Sky” could be.
She is able to be incredibly silly and amazingly sweet and frustratingly stubborn, all in the span of 3 minutes… and it just makes me want to hug her more.
She wants to be just like her big sister, and yet also wants to just be herself… and both directions are great options!
She is learning to love Jesus through me, and it brings me such joy to hear her sing along to praise songs in the car, or ask (with a hopeful tone) if we’re going to praise band practice… I pray that I can teach her to always love serving Jesus in all that she does.
Sometimes I feel blown away that God has given me such wonderful, loving, kind, forgiving, fun girls to raise… and then I pray that I don’t blow it. Thank you Lord for this amazing blessing of these girls, and help me to never take them for granted…
What I’m thankful for… part 1
This girl.
She looks so much like me, and yet she is so much more beautiful than I have ever been.
She acts so much like me, and it drives me crazy sometimes, but it also drives me to be a better person than I am right now.
She sings just like me, except that it’s 24-7, and primarily in the bathroom.
She is learning to love Jesus through me, and yet she sometimes understands God more than I do… the other day she came downstairs for breakfast and declared “I think God made me to sing. And dance. And write.” while I’m still not sure what God’s real purpose is for my life…
Thank you is not enough to express my gratitude to you Lord Jesus. And I don’t say it often enough.
