This week, my 1 1/2 year old daughter Eden successfully stopped using her “boppy” (pacifier) with the help of our beautiful friend, baby Emma!! Earlier this week, we went to visit some friends who are neighbors of baby Emma’s family – and the entire way there, Eden kept asking “Emma? Baby? Emma?” because she wanted to play with her friend. And then during our small group on Tuesday night (Emma and her parents are part of our group), Emma was a bit sad while the kids were playing together. So after group was over, Eden kept saying “Emma?” and then making a crying sound… She is such a sensitive girl! So I decided to take this opportunity to teach a lesson on sharing and get rid of the pacifier all at one time! “Yes, baby Emma was sad… let’s share your boppy with her and then Emma will be happy!” AND EDEN AGREED!!! She just had a few whimpers as she went to bed without her boppy that night, and again the next few days at naps and bedtime – but as soon as I would remind her that we shared her boppy with Emma, Eden would say “Emma? *wahh* Boppy. Happy!” So thank you Emma for not only being an incredibly cute baby (even when she’s sad, as you can see…), but also for helping us get rid of the boppy!! (And the funniest part? Emma doesn’t even use a pacifier!)
