Before Your Session

Please check my availability to see dates that I have open, then give me a call or send an email to discuss your options.  Newborn Story sessions should take place when your infant is under three weeks old, so please contact me a few months before you’re due and put my name on the list of people to call when the baby arrives.  Take a peek at my portfolio to get a feel for my style, and certainly call or email with any ideas or questions.  After your session fee has been paid, your session date/time will be reserved (if paid via paypal, a receipt for your purchase will be emailed to you. You may then log into your account at www.paypal.com/us to view details of your transaction.) If possible, I will meet with you a few weeks before your session to chat about details, ideas, and craft the story we’re going to tell together. Finally, I will call you a few days before your session to confirm your appointment and go over last-minute questions you may have.

where?
I am an on-location photographer, which means that I will come to you… in your home, at the park, or for Mini-Sessions we will meet at one of my favorite outdoor locations around Champaign-Urbana.  I find that children are more comfortable and spontaneous during sessions in locations that are familiar and meaningful to your family, which results in more genuine images.

what to wear?
Comfortable clothing! Feel free to have a few outfits ready and together we’ll determine what will photograph best. Bold colors or bright whites, rugged denim or fun stripes, even Superman capes or ballerina tutus can photograph well!  If you would like group shots, it’s best to coordinate colors and avoid patterned fabrics. Still not sure? Just let me know and I can give you more details suggestions!

how long?
On-location Story sessions typically last 1-2.5 hours.  Mini-Sessions are 20 minutes long.

During Your Session

I bring loads of patience and a casual, comfortable approach to each session, as well as years of experience working with kids.  I understand that kids can be tired, hungry, nervous, or just plain grumpy – but sometimes these expressions can be the most precious!  So please do not feel pressured to have your child be “perfect” during the session – encourage them to relax, have fun, and be the star of the show.  Please feel free to share your ideas or thoughts with me as well!

After Your Session

Clients are encouraged to schedule an in-person ordering appointment at your home so that I may provide you with one-on-one assistance with designing storyboards, choosing collection items, and finalizing your order.  Your proofs will be ready approximately 2 weeks following your session. Your private online gallery will be available for viewing at least 24 hours before your in-studio ordering appointment. You are welcome to share the gallery with family and friends. Your online gallery will be available for 7 days and all orders are due at that time. Ordered images will be archived for one year.  I appreciate your order during the gallery viewing period.  Orders made in a timely manner are easier to process and be delivered in a timely manner.

customer satisfaction
My goal is for your complete satisfaction.  During the gallery viewing period, if there are any changes or touch-ups you would like, just let me know.   Please inspect all prints upon delivery and notify me of any problems immediately.  There are no returns on albums or prints.  Please take special care with your images!

limited editions
I offer a limited number of portfolio-building sessions to try out new ideas and products. Please let me know if you would like to be notified via email about upcoming events.
