Yep, Thanksmas is the best holiday of the year. It’s the Saturday after Thankgiving, and is all the best of Thanksgiving and Christmas rolled into one!  Presents, kids, turkey, euchre, persimmon pudding, late nights, gooseberry pie, cousins, laughter, grandparents, shooting clay pigeons… yep, that about sums it up. Plus I get to hang out with one of my favorite cousins (who got her family pictures out of the way a few weeks ago here at my parents’ farm). So forgive me if I’m absent for a few days, because Thanksmas starts NOW!

When I got a call from this beautiful mom to book a family photography session, she told me how she recently realized how important it is to capture images that show the relationship between parents and their children… Her profession brings her in contact with many families experiencing the loss of a loved one, and she knows through experience how important it is to document these relationships we value – because they sometimes end suddenly. So during our time together at her home in Mahomet, we made some fun memories and captured them forever… and proof that we did just that? I got this email from them after the session: “Wanted to thank you again for your patience and creativity with all of us!! Cora told me after you left (and she was eating dinner) that “normal” photo shoots were like “this kernel of corn…kinda boring and blah but the session we just had was like this curly fry…fun with all kinds of twists”. So there you go…betcha never been compared to a curly fry before!!”  Haha!! Thanks you guys!

We had a gorgeous fall day for this extended family photography session up in Wheaton, IL a few weekends ago – and we took full advantage of it!  These lovely ladies (who I’ve enjoyed photographing since they were born!) had a great time playing with their cousins and grandparents – though I’m pretty sure their favorite part was the lollipops at the end!  Thanks for another awesome session!

I think the title of this post is a great way to describe this awesome family of six… and I’m so excited that I got to spend time with them at their home in Chicago again!  I can hardly believe I’ve had the privilege of photographing these kiddos since the oldest one was just a little guy… and now there are four of them! I just love how they all embrace the craziness that comes along with having 4 kids, and it’s so much fun to capture that with my camera… enjoy!!

On beautiful days like this one, it’s pretty obvious why autumn is the busiest season at Sweet Pea Photography.  Such gorgeous colors in the trees, a crisp breeze in the air, the sunset giving everything a warm glow… ahhh.  This lucky family had access to one of the prettiest locations in Champaign-Urbana, and we had a lot of fun exploring and laughing for a few hours before sunset.  Thanks again for a great family photography session!

I was thrilled when this family booked a family photography session again this fall.  I first worked with them a year ago at their home in Champaign, and their session then resulted in some of my all-time favorite images… and this year was just as awesome! The combination of two beautiful girls and two playful parents always results in a fun, relaxed, wonderful morning full of hugs and laughter.  Thanks again for letting me spend time with your family and I’m already looking forward to next year!
