This week’s challenge was really more of a technical review of basic camera settings and info — so if you need a quick refresher course in ISO, white balance, shutter speed, aperture, and other technical stuff, just head over to the develop : on fridays blog and check it out. Here’s my response to the assignment (I skipped the white balance part because I love how my camera handles auto white balance) — I just looked at how different ISO settings affect the image. All of these images were shot at f/3.0, 1/160, +0.33 exposure. The ISO setting for each image is in the corner. Which one do you think turned out the best?
Michelle Tanner - 800 for sure! Cool project. 1000 starts to get blown out on the petals. 800 is just perfect.
Holly - I’m debating between 640 and 800… Cool assignment!
Tami LaCome - When I first saw this post, I liked the 320, but I was feeling dark & moody. I hadn’t had any coffee yet.
But now that I am looking at them again, I like 800 the best. It’s bright enough to be cheery, but not too bright (the flower on the left hurts my eyes in the other pics), but dark enough to show the detail in aforementioned flower. It also looks real (like what it’d look like in real life).
Amber - What a good idea! I’m totally doing this with my camera.
Mom - interesting! I like 1000 the best, then 800.
Dave - Got me hooked. Went out and took “hybiscuits” shots this morn. Checking them now.
