At this family session in Champaign a few weeks ago, I asked these parents to tell their kiddos what makes them feel proud of their kids… and I just loved watching the kids’ reactions… usually shy smiles, followed by blushing, followed by a big grin and even a hug. What a gorgeous morning for this Sweet Pea Photography family session a few weeks ago… blue skies, warm air, and a nice breeze to keep us cool as the day got hotter! These kids had a great time exploring Meadowbrook park, especially watching the squirrels climbing the trees. As I look back at their sessions from the past 4 years, I wonder where the time has gone…

A few days ago, my girls got their hair cut for Locks of Love (well, actually only Averhy’s was long enough… but hopefully Eden’s will be next time!) Just over 2 years ago, Averhy and I chopped our hair and donated it, and she was so excited to do it again! Here are a few before and after shots just for fun… and some action shots on my family blog…

I love couples in love…
During this Savoy family’s photography session last week, this gorgeous friend of mine asked if we could do a few shots of just the two of them and I jumped at the chance. I love doing Beloved Couple sessions, and even a 5-minute mini-session like this makes me smile. I think it’s a little crazy how couples (me included) rarely if ever get pictures taken of the most central relationship in our lives… and I want to take a second to encourage all of you couples out there to think about that… when your kids look back through your family photo albums someday, will they see images that show how much you loved your spouse? Hmmm….

For the past 9 months, this awesome University of Illinois senior has been my go-to girl… for babysitting, packaging prints, placing orders, balancing my checkbook, watching kids at CrossFit CU… you name it, she can do it! She graduated last week, so we spent a lovely morning walking around campus, taking some pictures, and chatting one last time before she heads out of town. Thank you for a wonderful year McKenna, and I wish you the best of luck at your new real-world job in Chicago – I know with your faith in God and wonderfully positive attitude, you will have great success!

This session last week in Urbana was a glimpse of what summer is going to be like for this family… lots of time playing outside in the green grass, pretending to be firefighters! During their session, this cutie had a blast putting out fires, wrestling with his mom and dad, and blowing bubbles (preferably in my face) with his awesome bubble machine.
