Last Saturday was the first day of Sweet Pea Photography mini-sessions for fall 2009… and the day couldn’t have been more gorgeous for the Chicagoland sessions! I had a great time with this family from Morris, Illinois during their session at Gebhard woods (why, oh why can’t Champaign-Urbana have a beautiful park like this one?! Tall trees, grassy expanses, fishing ponds, bridges, a waterfall… and all surrounded by green, green, green trees… sigh…). The kids had a blast climbing all over their dad’s newly-restored antique John Deere, and then we tossed leaves and made silly faces… everything that a fun mini-session should be! This is one of my favorite family shots from their session – if you love it too, leave them a kind word and after 25 comments, I’ll gift them a 5×7 print of this shot!
Sara - Love it! What a great picture….amazing work!
Lisa - How fun! I love this picture.
Heidi Fornino - Love this picture. Kayla looks just like a mini Lisa!
Dave Lynn - Beautiful…. reminds me that children are our future.
Tracy Larsen - I love this picture because it captures a moment where you have the adventure seeking little brother charging ahead with the older sister looking on and holding his hand to provide guidance. I can almost here the little boy say, “come on, let’s go”! I love it! All while mom and dad look on proudly.
Carol Walker - These are the cutest grandchildren in the whole wide world…and, of course, they are mine!!!!
Carol
Marti - Fantastic, couldn’t ask for a better moment. Love it!
Lena - I love this picture!
Lisa Walker - Do my comments count? This pic is SO FUN! You really captured the kids well! Kayla is ALWAYS explaining something or reprimanding Kyle and he just keeps moving forward! We had so much fun doing this with you! It was so relaxing compared to taking them to a studio and praying they behaved-and the pics are so clear and real! Thank you so much for coming up here and working with us! You are wonderful! Kyle asked when we get to see “Allyson” again! 🙂
julie - Beautiful. Can’t wait to see the rest of them.
Allyson - Thanks Carla – I’m saving the tractor ones to surprise them in their gallery… 🙂 And about the parks – I do love all those parks, but the great thing about Gebhard woods is that it’s along a canal – so all the way around 2/3 of the park is a high levee-type of berm, covered in vines and plants, and then behind that is more tall trees, which creates great depth in the images. Most of the parks around here have houses surrounding them (ugh) or cornfields/prairie (which are fine, but not as pretty or interesting as trees). Lake of the Woods or the U of I Arboretum are the closest we’ve got – which is why I’ve been using them a lot! 🙂
Carla - great family shot. Would like to have seen one on the tractor. 🙂
Allyson: what about Meadowbrook Park or Crystal Lake Park in Urbana or Lake of the Woods in Mahomet? They might come close.
